How telling stories can make you money
If you think back to your school days, you may not be able to remember much. Most classes were pretty boring, and the best way to pass the time was usually to take a nap.
I'll bet, however, you do remember one thing: the teachers you had who told you stories. Whenever I was bored out of my skull in class, I always remember sitting up and paying attention when the teacher or professor said, "let me tell you a story."
People love stories. If you read Readers Digest you'll know almost every article begins with a story--they capture your attention and get you into it.
The best copywriters are also the best story tellers. A great story makes for a great sales letter. In fact, if any of you remember Jeff Paul's "making money in your underwear" story, you'll know he built an entire business around his all to true broke-to-riches story.
One of the most successful weight loss ads ever written was "The Amazing Diet Secret of a Frustrated Housewife from Cleburne" that told the story of, well, a housewife who'd gotten fat and lost a lot of weight.
Whenever I create a product or speak and sell at a seminar I always make sure to include a lot of stories. They keep the audience focused on you, help them learn more, and increase your sales.
Everyone loves a good story teller, and it's a skill you should develop--your bank account will love you for it.
