Why buyers are winners...
I was listening to "Think and Grow Rich" in my car yesterday, when I heard something that made me laugh out loud. Why? Because while the book was written in the 1930's., everything Napoleon Hill says applies more so in this day and age.
Here's the statement that made me laugh: "the collection agencies of correspondence schools educate more men than all the teachers and professors in the public school system." Why is this? Because public school is free, and people don't value what they get for free. But, with correspondence schools, you have to pay whether you use the lessons or not. If you don't pay, they have a very effective collection system that gets money out of deadbeats. What happens many times is, the non-payer gets upset and says to himself, "well if I have to pay, I might as well get my money's worth and complete the course."
Then, upon completion of the course, the former non-payer realizes he has some very useful knowledge, knowledge he values because he paid for it. That knowledge over the course of his life can bring him untold riches.
That's why the act of buying an educational product is magic--you value it, and you use it. That's why asking for something free has no benefit to you whatsoever, and is actually detrimental. If you'd paid for it, you'll use it in a way you never would if it was free. That's why I never give anything away for free--it's of no benefit to me OR the person I'm giving it away to. In fact it is detrimental to the person I give it away to, because it prevents them from getting the results they would have gotten had they paid for it.
So, if you want to succeed, you must be a buyer and a user, not a freeloader, a whiner or worst of all a refunder.
In fact, today's issue of "Randy's Corner" addresses this subject, from a different perspective.

Hi all,
I was talking to Mr. X today about emails I have received regarding making me an offer to give us a percentage of profits in exchange for a free license or toolkit. I get all kinds of stories ranging from bankruptcies to single mothers wanting an opportunity to make extra money to get ahead. I know these are valid reasons to want to go out and do something to make life better, but the one thing I've noticed in my life and in other peoples lives is that when you get something for free you never feel the pressure to make it successful.
You don't feel a sense of urgency to make it work. To be successful at any endeavor requires investment of time and money. The bottom line you have to pay the price. When I played Football in College they paid for my roof and my meals, I thought that I had it made until that first meeting where they laid out on the table for me "work or go home, there are no free rides in life".
I had to work and be a tackling dummy for
2 years until I earned the right to play all the time. I know that Football isn't real life, but I had no career in Football I had to struggle to raise 3 children, but I did it knowing that if I work smart and persevere it all turns out right.
Sincerely,
Randy
