What to do if you know nothing about building websites
I got a really great question from one of my subscribers, so I'm going to take a bit of time to answer it today. First off though, please keep in mind I receive literally hundreds of questions a day, so there's no way I can answer all of them. Please don't be disappointed if I don't get to yours--it's not you or your question, just the volume I receive.
Dear Mr. X,
I have been studying all the ins and outs of marketing on the web for nearly 2 1/2 years. My problem is, I don't know anything about building a website. Where would you suggest I start to get a website online and ready to go? I heard about sitebuild.com,what do you think about www.sitebuild.com? Any other suggestions about where else can I go to get started? I've had it with studying and am ready to start doing. Help.

Mr. X: Thanks for the email, "Mrs. Neophyte." I'll give you two answers to this question. First off, if you want to get a website online fast, I'd recommend you use Microsoft Front Page, and go get one of those "Dummies Books" that can show you how to use it. It's a very easy program to use, almost like Microsoft Word. Just spend a few days playing around with it, building a few "fun" websites so you can get familiar with it. It's a good program to use for salesletter style websites, which are basically text with just a bit of formatting.
The other answer is to not spend too much time learning website design--as you become more successful you'll find there are plenty of starving web designers who are quite happy to make your website look the way you want it to. You may laugh at this, but my favorite way to modify a website is to print it out, sit down with the web designer, then use pen and paper on the printout to show him/her the modifications you want, then let them "work the magic." BE SURE TO CHECK THEIR WORK THOROUGHLY.
I still use Front Page to make quick modifications, but for "heavier work" it's best to find a starving website designer.
Let's get to it...
