Just what the heck is "information marketing?"

Did you know that "information marketing" really is the fastest, easiest way to build wealth AND live the "ultimate lifestyle," one where you have both money and time? It's true, but very few people know this because they don't know what the heck "information marketing" is, or why it really is the "ultimate lifestyle business." So, today, I'm going to explain it to you in easy to understand terms, so you'll really "get" its power.
Most people understand you can make money in real estate, or in the stock market. While they may not have any idea how, they at least have a basis for comparison. Most everybody buys or sells a house sometime in their life, so people understand what real estate is.
Most people at some time or another buy or sell stock, have a retirement portfolio, a 401K, or watche the Dow Jones go up and down on CNN.
So, when someone hears they can make money in real estate, or in the stock market, they at least have an idea of what both are. The same thing does NOT hold true in "information marketing," even though it is more lucrative, less time consuming, and easier to learn than stocks or real estate. People have no basis of comparison--they've never heard of information marketing, and when you explain it, their eyes start to glaze over... until they understand it, and then... they get excited beyond belief.
So just why is information marketing so powerful? It has to do with the ability to leverage your time, and your sales message.
Let me explain.
When I say "information marketing," what I'm talking about is "how to stuff," selling your knowledge in printed form. Let's say you're a personal fitness trainer, and know how to help people lose weight really fast and keep it off. If you're teaching people face to face, one at a time, you can only teach so many in a day--5 or so, and probably less (you still have to SELL these people on becoming a client, which if done face to face is very time consuming).
If you hire employees to teach your clients, you have a tiny bit of leverage, and if you have 3 employees you can teach 15 people a day, while you run the business. However, this incurs a lot of overhead (recurring monthly expenses) and time (you have to manage the employees), and cannot be easily expanded. This is the traditional (stupid) business model.
Now, let's say you go get a video camera, and film yourself training one of your best clients. You then have it transcribed and put into a manual, so people can read it if they don't have time to watch the video. Then you record an hour long CD about how to eat right, and have that transcribed too. You now have an "information product" you can sell to people for years to come--and you only had to do the work once. It's very easy to get this duplicated--a printer can print up 5,000 manuals, or make 5,000 CD's in a day or so. Or, better yet, you can duplicate this product on a small scale AFTER you get an order for it, so you're not spending money on inventory.
Now, here's what makes information marketing so powerful: you're not going to sell this product face to face. Nope, you're going to sit down and right a simple "sales letter" that tells a potential customer about the benefits of your product. You can also turn that exact same sales letter into a website. Now, get this: once you've written the sales letter, it's done forever--now all you have to do is mail it, or drive traffic to the website.
Here's the magic of information marketing, and I want you to listen very closely: it takes as much time to mail 1,000 letters (or have 1,000 visitors come to your website) as it does to mail a million letters, or have a million visitors come to your website. But the amount of money you get back is, obviously, much, much more when you mail to a million people--but it takes the same amount of time as it does to mail to a thousand. Do you see the "leverage point?"
Now, here's the great thing about information marketing: you can test a list, or test website traffic for very cheap, and once it proves itself, slowly and methodically expand your marketing, using the money that comes in from previous marketing efforts.
Information marketing, when done correctly, is self financing, ESPECIALLY with the internet.
So, let's say you test mailing to a list of 2,000 names, and you get good results. So, you mail a few more, and a few more until you're literally mailing 100,000 names a month, using the money that came in from the previous names. Even better, let's say you do a little "Pay Per Click" Advertising on the Google Search Engine, and get 500 visitors to your website at 10 cents per click. Once you know they respond, then you can take that money and go advertise other places online until you're getting 100,000 visitors a month, and putting tremendous profits in your bank account.
Do you now see why information marketing is so powerful? The upside profits are tremendous (with little of your time invested), and the start up cost is tiny. Once you do the work (creating the product, and writing the sales letter) once, it's done forever.
And, many categories of "how to" information are "evergreen," meaning they'll be around forever. People will always want to know how to lose weight, make more money, plant a garden, win at poker, play better golf, attract men or women, tell jokes, start a business, etc., etc. So, once you create a product in an "evergreen category" you can sell it forever, with no revisions.
Here's one more big reason information marketing is so powerful:
once someone buys a product from you, and they like it, they want to buy more stuff from you--stuff that's more expensive. This is called the "back end," and once your customers know you deliver a great product, they'll beg you for more.
And, even if you're a bit lazy, and have no desire to create any more products, you can refer your customers to "affiliate programs" and get big, fat checks when they buy other people's products. If you have customers who are into health, there are many, many companies who sell supplements and other health products who offer affiliate programs--all you do is email your customers, tell them to go to the affiliate website, and when they buy you get a check. The other company does all the work! How great is that?
Are you guys beginning to see the power of information marketing?
Can you visualize the lifestyle you can lead? It's the one I lead, and it is truly amazing--I have both time and money, and even when I'm on vacation my back account is filling up--yours can do the same.
Let's get to it...
